Professor Christy Clark-Pujara will open the PBS Wisconsin America at 250 Education Summit to mark the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

She will explore the complexity of the people, places, values, and experiences of the time leading up to and after the American Revolution. Drawing directly from primary sources, including the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, the Northwest Ordinance, and the 1848 Wisconsin Constitution, Dr. Clark-Pujara will ground our learning with an examination of the questions, perspectives, and actions that shaped our histories, as both a new nation and later a state, and how those histories connect to our lives today.

July 2026 will mark the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. To support 3rd-12th grade educators teaching history and civics, PBS Wisconsin Education, in partnership with the Wisconsin Historical Society, Wisconsin Council for the Social Studies, Wisconsin Civic Learning Coalition, and the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, is convening the America at 250 Educator Summit, August 5-6, 2026, in Madison.
