Micah Sagers awarded the Wisconsin Idea Undergraduate Fellowship

Undergraduate Micah Sagers has been awarded the Wisconsin Idea Undergraduate Fellowship for her project, “Freedom is Wellness: Health in A Freedom School Model”. Sagers, a Biology major, is pursuing a certificate in African American Studies and is a current research fellow in The SoulFolk Collective.

Wisconsin Idea Fellowships are awarded annually to undergraduate student projects working towards addressing a challenge identified along with a local or global community partner.

“I am truly excited for the opportunity to engage in work at the intersection of my interests in Black studies and health and wellbeing,” she shares. “As a pre-med student drawn to qualitative research, I see this fellowship as a meaningful step in enriching my research skills while exploring an area I’m passionate about. I’m so grateful to Dr. Stovall and the rest of the SoulFolk Collective for their incredible support and for making the SoulFolk Saturday School a reality.”

Congratulations, Micah!
