Former student William Sturkey (MA ’07) wrote Hattiesburg: An American City in Black and White. A rich, multigenerational saga of race and family in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, that tells the story of how Jim Crow was built, how it changed, and how the most powerful social movement in American history came together to tear it down. Published 3/28 by Harvard University Press.

Brenna Greer (MA ’04) received tenure at Wellesley College. Her book, Represented: The Black Imagemakers Who Reimagined African American Citizenship (American Business, Politics, and Society) will be available June 28, 2019.
